iXora Web Design has accepted a new client: The University of Vermont Center for Aging. The job will involve updating a site that was created with Joomla!, a popular CMS product.
Webmasters Frankie Bailey and Fred Brown are not familiar with this software, but in keeping with the iXora philosophy of building web sites "within an educational framework, not for profit", they have begun the task with enthusiam.
This web site will serve as a learning tool and will cronicle their progress. Both webmasters have installed Joomla! on their personal servers (this site contructed by Frankie as a sub-site of iXora Web Design.)

- Fred makes all contact with the University Representative.
- We don't publish until both webmasters agree.
- If both webmasters are in the admin section, the first to arrive has precedence.
- Changes to site are restricted to low usage times.

The webmasters have been very busy during the last month investigating extensions. Fred has conquered video (see main article on home page) and Frankie can build forms, contact page, games (see sudoko on the thank you page) and has added numerous modules and components: custom, php ,random image, sitemap.
All this to provide the COA site with a video of Professor Penbury giving a lecture which was recoreded on a dvd and to place a contact form on COA concerning donation information. It was difficult enough searching the documentation for the best extensions and implementing them on our practice sites. But the real difficulty is still unsolved.
The COA site will not accept the extension uploads. It seems that we do not have ftp privileges on the server. Our best solution might be to have a UVM systems administrator perform the install for us and then we can procede to implemnt the extensions on the COA site itself. |
